Intermediate FileMaker Pro 9 is a two-day course that gives students who are already familiar with FileMaker Pro basics the opportunity to enhance their skills.
Students are shown the user interface with special attention given to advanced tools that greatly enhance their development skills. In addition, students will learn to effectively design interfaces and data layers. Advanced portals techniques will be introduced and students will learn how to use scripts to make data entry easier and more efficient for users and reporting more useful for managers.
The class takes a comprehensive approach to report design. It teaches students to create summary reports, creating an understanding of the tools available. Students will also learn how to make reports more flexible by using automation to select and display data in a variety of ways.
The class concludes by introducing advanced scripting techniques, including script variables and error capture. Due to the similarities in data structure and user interface between FileMaker Pro 9 and previous versions, most subjects covered in this course can be easily applied to any database created in FileMaker Pro 7, 8 or 8.5. |
